Of course, over the years, our answer to this question has changed along with the trends. If you asked us a few years ago, we may have said a Tuscan sand color. And if you asked even years before that, we may have told you that red was on the horizon for homeowners.
However, if you ask us now, we’d say that the hottest hue of the moment is greenery.
Pantone’s color of the year: Greenery
Where did we get this answer from? We pulled inspiration from one of the industry’s top color matching companies, Pantone. Pantone is best known for their Pantone Matching System. This system is used in a variety of industries, including the flooring and décor industry. Specifically, this system is used to gather inspiration and find an ideal color match for paint, furniture, tile, etc.
Each year, Pantone releases what they call “the color of the year.” These colors are decided by a committee that takes trends, global culture, and creativity into consideration when deliberating. This year, when the committee met, they decided upon a refreshing hue, which they call greenery.
Using greenery in your home
Pantone describes greenery as “a refreshing and revitalizing shade.” In other words, this color is all about embracing nature, exuding energy, and remaining optimistic.
So, what does this mean for the designs of your home? When it comes to using the color greenery, the opportunities are endless. Below, we’re sharing just a few of the many ways you can embrace the color greenery in your home.
Wall colorOne of the easiest and most obvious ways to incorporate the color greenery into your home is by adding a pop of this hue on your walls. Adding an accent wall color is a simple way to transform a bland room into something that catches your eye.
To do so, first identify where you’d like to incorporate an accented wall. We recommend choosing a wall that’s large enough to make an impact. However, we also suggest selecting a wall in a room that’s not already overdone with other paint swatches or intricate décor. When doing an accent wall, it’s important to let the color speak for itself.
Take the below images as an example. Both feature a bold, green wall that makes an impact.
Green couchAnother great way to feature greenery in your home’s designs is to incorporate a large furniture piece that makes a statement. Specifically, one of the best ways to do so is to include a green couch that makes a statement.
For most homeowners, this may sound like a crazy idea. Most don’t envision a green couch in the middle of their living room. But in reality, this can be done a variety of ways, both in an out-of-the-box and traditional manner.
Take the below images for example. These images represent an out-of-the-ordinary approach. They feature urban artwork and a large floral rug. These elements, in combination with the green couch, help create a unique space.
However, there are also ways to make a green couch appear to be more traditional. See the below image to get an idea of what we’re talking about. There, traditional décor such as carpet, neutral colors, and curtains are pictured. These design elements help calm and balance out the bold statement of the green couch.
Indoor plantsIf you’re looking for a milder way to incorporate the color greenery into your home, this next suggestion is for you. We recommend featuring indoor plants in your home. Bringing the outside in is a huge trend we’ve seen develop over the past couple years. This trend is about adding a splash of green to give your home a natural ambiance.
What we love about this trend is that you can take it, and run with it. For example, you’re able to select any plant you’d like and place it at any position, within any room. One of our favorite ways to tackle this trend is to incorporate succulents into your home. Founded in Arizona, our team at Imperial Wholesale favors our native plants as ideal design elements. However, feel free to incorporate any plant that inspires you.

Exterior greeneryFinally, if bringing green indoors doesn’t work for your style, we recommend bringing it outdoors. For example, you could install planter boxes to make your own garden, purchase pots to let your greens grow, or even install your very own mini putting green in your backyard. Really, the opportunities are endless. Take the below images as inspiration for these projects.
