5 Ways to Create a Grand Entrance

Grand Entrance | Imperial WholesaleYou never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Your home is no exception. From the moment your guests step foot into your space, they begin to get a sense of your home’s personality. The textures, décor, colors, and materials you choose to incorporate into your entryway tells a story. These elements work together to foreshadow what’s to come with the rest of your homes’ designs.

In the best-case scenario, when incorporating exquisite entryway designs, you can wow your guests from the get-go. But in the worst-case scenario, with a dull and bland entrance, you can lose your guest’s attention. To avoid this worst-case scenario, make sure you’re making a good impression with a well-designed entryway.

Consider these five design elements when creating a stand-out entryway:
  1. Dual stairways
  2. Medallions
  3. Light fixtures
  4. Custom stone or tile
  5. Chairs, benches, and tables
What are you waiting for? Your grand entrance awaits. Let’s get started.

1. Dual stairways

Nothing says luxury quite like dual, spiral stairways. In our opinion, there’s no better way to capture your guests’ attention right off the bat. Picture this: the doors of your home swing open. Your guests step foot in your entryway and look around. To their amusement, their eyes meet two, exquisitely crafted spiral staircases leading up to your second story. These staircases impress your guests and invite them into a perfectly designed space. What else could you wish for?

For inspiration for this project, take a look at the image below. Schill Archetecture LLC beautifully crafted a one-of-a-kind entryway with dual staircases taking center stage.

2. Medallions

If you’re looking to make a big impact with your home’s entryway, consider incorporating medallions. Medallions are made up of custom mosaic tiles. Together, these tiles create an oval or circular design that can then be placed on walls, floors, or any other area throughout your home. We recommend incorporating medallions in your entryway because they’re a classic, signature, and one-of-a-kind design piece. No two medallions are alike which makes it really exciting to see your medallion come to life and help create your home’s personality. For inspiration as to where you can take this project, take a look below at how Cornado Home Builders and Locati Architects worked medallions into home entryways.

3. Light fixtures

When creating a wow-factor entryway, it’s important to also think about lighting—both natural lighting and lighting fixtures. To start, we recommend incorporating natural light in some shape or form. Maybe it’s light coming from a window, sliding glass door, or even from another room. The source of the natural light shouldn’t matter so much. In our opinion, it’s just important that natural light is incorporated in your entryway in some form. Natural light helps create an inviting, warm ambiance, something that your entryway could use. In addition to incorporating natural light, we also recommend incorporating a light fixture within your entryway. The most popular light fixture we see used within entryways are chandeliers. Chandeliers are a great option when it comes to creating a stand-out entrance to your home. However, don’t be afraid to also step outside the box with other non-traditional light fixtures. Pennant lights, floor lamps, and Edison lights are all great options for sprucing up your entryway. 4. Custom stone or tile

In our opinion, you can never go wrong with custom stone or tile. Custom stone and tile add personal touches throughout your home. These pieces help your designs stand out from the rest. Lucky for you, with our Imperial Elite services, the sky’s the limit. We offer endless, unique product options so you can always have something that’s completely one-of-a-kind. If you don’t find what you’re looking for from our existing hand-picked selection, we can create it, or import it from another country. We weren’t kidding when we said the sky’s the limit. After receiving your custom stone or tile, we recommend incorporating it in your flooring, wall décor, and medallions. Adding custom pieces to these areas will help bring your entryway to another level.

5. Chairs, benches, and tables

Finally, don’t forget to make your entryway functional. When guests arrive to your home, most likely, they’ll be carrying some extra baggage. Whether that baggage is a large bag for overnight guests, a small purse, or a “welcome to the neighborhood” gift from your neighbors, your guests will likely need a place to set their things. Be sure you’re giving your guests appropriate tables to store their personal items and comfortable seats for them to feel at home upon arrival. Chairs, benches, and tables are functional items you should include within your entryway. However, just because they’re functional, doesn’t mean the design of these items must be compromised. There are plenty of beautiful chairs, benches, and tables on the market that will perfectly complement your space. Take the below images by Scott Sanders and Create Your Space Design for example.
