7 Simple Bathroom Updates

Updating Your Bathroom How to Update your Bathroom
Want to update your bathroom but don’t want to spend the money on a full remodel? Don’t worry; we have tips and tricks to quickly update your bathroom without breaking the bank.   Since bathrooms are small compared to other rooms in the home, a few small updates can go a long way! Here are our 7 simple updates that will make a huge impact.

1.    Add a splash of wall color

Adding a splash of paint is one of the first things we do when we need a quick update! We suggest picking a bold color for one wall in the bathroom as an accent wall.   The bright splash of color will instantly freshen up the room, add a modern touch, and make a huge impact!

2.    Add a trimmed mirror

While small medicine cabinet mirrors do offer great “hidden” storage, they definitely don’t give your bathroom an updated look.  When it comes to mirrors, the bigger the better!

Replacing the small medicine cabinet mirror with a large framed mirror will instantly make your bathroom look larger and more contemporary.

3.    Incorporate creative storage

If you’re taking our advice and getting rid of your small medicine cabinet mirror, you’re going to need to create some more storage space.  With over-the-toilet storage, hanging shelves, or standing shelving units, your bathroom storage options are endless.  Whichever solution you go for, make sure everything has a designated place to keep your bathroom organized and clean.

We love incorporating matching boxes or jars as storage for little things in the bathroom to keep the room neat and tidy!

4.    Welcome natural light

As with any room in your home, welcoming natural light will make it look larger and brighter.  If you have windows, find window treatments that allow for plenty of natural light to shine in without compromising your privacy.  We love top-down bottom-up shades that allow you to let in natural light up top of the window, while covering the bottom of the window for privacy.  If you don’t have windows in your bathroom, consider adding a skylight to give lots of beautiful natural light.  While this can be pricey, think of all the money you’ll save on your electricity bill!

5.    Add backsplash

Adding a tile backsplash is an easy addition that can make a huge impact on your bathroom.  At Imperial Wholesale, we have a wide selection of backsplash and wall tiles to complement any style or color combination.  By simply adding a strip of backsplash tile behind the sink, and then a matching strip in the shower, you can drastically modernize the bathroom with a minimal amount of tile.

6.    Update your sink

Many homes have old, dirty sinks that have been around for years—and you can tell! A quick sink switch-up can make a huge impact.  While it may sound like quite the undertaking, swapping out your old sink with a new sink that is the same size is actually easier than you may think (check out this DIY video from the DIY Network for a quick how-to). If you’re up for the challenge, go for a natural stone sink, like our Ellissi Bianco sink.  This beautiful white stone will add a quick modern touch to your bathroom.

7.    Install a shower door

While shower curtains can be a fun way to incorporate new colors and patterns into the room, they are not always the most modern option.  Installing a glass shower door in place of your shower curtain can give the room a sleeker look.  With frosted or clear glass, frame finish and handle options, your shower door options are endless.  While this may be the priciest update on our list, it is also one of the more drastic updates you can make without redoing the whole bathroom!

Find a few of the bathroom updates above that work for you and your space, and you’ll be floored by the impact these small updates can make.  If you’re not sure which updates will work best for you, get in touch with our design team and we’d be happy to work with you during a free design consultation to find the best solution for you, your space and your budget!
